Bespoke Ottoman and Storage Beds - Your Best Bedroom Storage Solution
The space under a bed is some of the most under-used storage in a home. An ottoman storage bed uses it properly.
Why Ottoman Beds Make Practical Sense
A standard double bed wastes roughly 800 litres of potential storage space - that is the entire volume under the mattress. An ottoman bed reclaims every litre of it. The mattress platform lifts on gas-piston struts to reveal a clean, lined storage compartment the full size of the bed.
Gas-piston mechanisms make the lift effortless, even with a heavy mattress. One hand is enough to raise the platform. The struts hold it open while you access your storage, then lower it gently back into place. There is no heaving, no propping and no risk of the platform dropping.
Bespoke vs Standard Ottoman Beds
A standard ottoman bed comes in fixed sizes with limited fabric choices. If your room is an unusual size, if you want a specific headboard style, or if you need the bed to match other bedroom furniture, a standard ottoman bed will always be a compromise.
A bespoke ottoman bed is built to any size - including non-standard widths and lengths - and upholstered in any fabric, leather or velvet. The headboard, base and storage compartment are all designed together, so the finished bed looks like a single, considered piece of furniture rather than a functional box with a mattress on top.
Ottoman Bed Options
Foot-Lift Ottoman
The mattress platform lifts from the foot of the bed. This is the most common configuration and works well when the bed has space at the foot end. It provides full access to the storage compartment from a standing position.
Side-Lift Ottoman
The platform lifts from one side of the bed. This is ideal when the foot of the bed is against a wall or when the room layout makes side access more convenient. We can configure the lift to open from either the left or the right.
Headboard Integration
The ottoman base is designed as part of a larger bed scheme that includes a bespoke headboard - upholstered, panelled or floor-to-ceiling. The headboard and base are built in matching finishes so the bed looks and feels like a single piece.

Ottoman Bed Questions
A king-size ottoman bed typically provides around 800 litres of storage - roughly equivalent to a large wardrobe. That is enough for spare bedding, suitcases, out-of-season clothing or bulky items that do not fit elsewhere. Because the entire platform lifts, you have access to the full area under the mattress, not just a section of it.
Yes. If you prefer drawers or open shelving under the bed rather than a lifting platform, we can build a platform bed frame with integrated storage. Options include side drawers, end drawers or a combination of both. We will recommend the best configuration based on your room layout and how you plan to use the storage.
