Bunk Beds
Bespoke Bunk Beds - Built for Your Room, Built to Last
A bespoke bunk bed is built to the exact dimensions of the room and the specific needs of the children using it.
Why Bespoke Beats Flat-Pack
A flat-pack bunk bed is designed to fit a generic room. It comes in fixed sizes, uses lightweight materials and relies on bolt-together construction that loosens over time. Within a year or two, most flat-pack bunk beds creak, wobble and feel less than solid.
A bespoke bunk bed is built from solid timber or high-quality engineered board, fitted to the exact dimensions of the room and secured to the wall where needed. It does not wobble, it does not creak, and it will last as long as the room is needed as a children's bedroom.
Bunk Bed Configurations
Standard Bunk Bed
Two single beds stacked vertically with a fixed ladder and full safety rails on the top bunk. The simplest and most space-efficient configuration for a shared bedroom.
L-Shaped Bunk Bed
The top and bottom bunks are set at right angles to each other, freeing up floor space underneath the top bunk for a desk, bookshelf or play area. This works particularly well in larger bedrooms.
Cabin Bed with Storage Underneath
A single raised bed with a wardrobe, drawers, desk or shelving built into the space below. Ideal for a child who does not share a room but needs the floor space for study or play.
Triple Bunk Bed
Three sleeping positions arranged in an L-shape or stacked configuration. Designed for families with three children sharing one room, or for holiday homes and rental properties.
Built-In Bunk with Reading Nooks
Each bunk has its own recessed shelf, reading light and curtain rail, giving each child a private space within a shared room. This is one of our most popular designs for siblings who want their own territory.
Safety and Construction
Every bunk bed we build meets or exceeds BS EN 747, the British Standard for bunk beds and high beds. This covers structural strength, safety rail height, gap dimensions and ladder security.
Our bunk beds are built from solid timber or high-density engineered board with reinforced joints. Safety rails are a minimum of 26 cm above the top of the mattress as standard. Ladders are fixed - not hooked on - and positioned where they are easiest and safest for the child to use. Where possible, we secure the bunk to the wall for additional stability.
Finishes and Personalisation
A bespoke bunk bed can be finished in any colour and personalised to suit the child. Popular options include:

Bunk Bed Questions
We recommend a minimum ceiling height of around 2.4 metres for a standard bunk bed, allowing enough headroom on both the top and bottom bunks. For rooms with lower ceilings, we can adjust the bunk heights or recommend a cabin bed configuration instead. We measure your room carefully during the design visit to make sure the proportions work.
Yes. This is one of the main reasons people choose a bespoke bunk bed. We design the bed to follow the slope of the ceiling, positioning the top bunk where there is the most headroom and using the lower sections for storage or the bottom bunk. Every angle is measured and accounted for.
We follow BS EN 747 safety standards, which recommend that children under six years old should not sleep on the top bunk. The bottom bunk is suitable for younger children. We fit full safety rails as standard on the top bunk, and the ladder design is chosen based on the age and ability of the child using it.
